Decorating for the Holidays

It was the awesome Santa Claus Parade this weekend, and snow actually stayed on the ground here in Toronto! You know what that means: it’s time to decorate!

There is no other time of year I love more than the winter holidays. I love everything about it, the snow, the gift buying, the parties and the decorating. The nice thing about doing the outdoor decorations early is that it isn’t too cold and that you have extra time to enjoy them when you really need some sparkle to brighten up grey November. It adds a touch of magic to a home and gives it some amazing curb appeal.

Pick a colour scheme or special theme and build on it, Add lots of white lights, always a classic.

A live wreath and window boxes both look lovely and gives off the most amazing smell.

if you are a sports lover, incorporate your skis, skates, snowshoes or toboggan into a still life on your porch.

If you have a favourite outdoor bench you can give it a winter life by scattering festive throw pillows

Add a wooden sign with a favourite holiday saying or song to make your entrance extra welcoming.

Now is the time to add some small evergreens to your yard before the ground freezes.
